Een voormalige militaire basis die is omgetoverd tot een paradijselijk eiland met kristalhelder water, verlaten bunkers en prachtige stranden. Sazan is het hoogtepunt van onze boottocht naar het eiland Sazan, de Haxhi Ali-grot en Karaburun, en staat ook op het programma van de zonsondergangscruise vanuit Vlora.

The docking pier is under Albanian military supervision. Arrival and departure times are strictly enforced.
Toegang & Diensten
The beach is managed by a strategic investor for the 2026 season.
Sunbeds, umbrellas, food and beverages are available for purchase on the island.
Entry to the island is free – services on the beach are paid.

Network of underground bunkers and tunnels built during the Cold War era, a unique piece of Albanian military history.

Former secret submarine base carved into the island rock, used by Italian and Albanian navies.

Former chemical weapons storage facility from the communist era, now decommissioned and open for guided tours.

Pebble beach on the eastern coast facing Vlora Bay, the main swimming spot for visitors.

Rugged western coastline with dramatic cliffs overlooking the open Adriatic Sea.
BeachSazan Harbor
Small natural harbor on the eastern side, used as the main landing point for tourist boats.
PortSummit Peak (344m)
The highest point on Sazan Island at 344 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea, Karaburun Peninsula, and the Italian coastline on clear days.
ViewpointMediterranean Wildlife
Home to 435 plant species, pine forests, and diverse wildlife including rabbits, hedgehogs, seabirds, and Mediterranean monk seals in surrounding waters. The endemic Limonium anfractum grows only here.

A beautiful place, the water is azure in color. I recommend bringing water shoes, as there are flat rocks. You can also walk barefoot. There's a military base to explore, and the remains of apartments and a school. It's a constant uphill climb, but it's worth seeing. You take a boat ride. I recommend it 🤗

Het eiland die de familie Trump -met Ivanka én haar man als voorlopers- in hun bezit willen hebben, om daar een groot vakantie-resort van te maken. Deze plannen stuiten op verzet van veel Albanese inwoners. De flore en fauna van Sazan wordt zo -volgens hen- ernstig bedreigd. Op Sazan zelf is -op dit moment- weinig tot niets te beleven. Sazan ligt op een strategische militaire plek én er zijn nog militairen aanwezig, maar die hebben wij niet waargenomen. Op sommige plekken is het ook niet toegestaan om foto's te maken of te filmen.
